Andrea Bonelli
Andrea began surfing at the age of 6 in Liguria, Italy, thanks to his father, who taught him and his brother. As there were limited surfing schools at that time, they had to learn by trial and error. They continued to surf in Liguria as well as on family and friend trips. In 2019, Andrea moved to Liguria to work as a surf instructor, getting the chance to surf more frequently. His love for surfing is captured in the quote by Miki Dora, who greatly influenced his style: “Waves are the ultimate illusion. They come out of nowhere, instantaneously materialize, and just as quickly, they break and vanish. Chasing after such fleeting mirages is a complete waste of time. That is what I chose to do with my life.”. Andrea now has his own brand, Hellpibe Surfcraft, where he creates hand-shaped surfboards that reflect his personal experience and perspective on surfing.
Aside from surfing, Andrea used to DJ but now mainly listens to music while shaping surfboards. He recently taken up the Suminagashi technique of marbling to create colorful designs on surfboard repairs and inlays. Actually you can find him in southwest Portugal, where he continues to repair and shape surfboards.
